Mastermind

A Classic Reborn

Mastermind was invented in 1970 by a telecommunications expert who could not find a publisher and pitched it at the 1971 Nuremberg Toy Fair. Invicta Plastics picked it up, and by 1975 it had sold 30 million sets — outselling every other game at Hamleys in London. The original was played with coloured pegs on a plastic board; this version brings that same logic puzzle to your browser.

Your job: crack the hidden colour code in as few guesses as possible. After each guess you get feedback — a black dot for a correct colour in the right position, a white dot for a correct colour in the wrong position. No dots means start again. Four difficulty levels, from a gentle warm-up to a serious brain-burner.
