Do I need to file a tax return in Japan?

If you’re self-employed, a freelancer, have rental income, or earn income outside of a regular salary, you likely need to file. The filing deadline for the 2026 tax year is March 15, 2027.

What’s the difference between Blue and White returns?

Blue returns (青&#33ắc申告) offer better tax deductions (up to 650,000 yen) but require more detailed bookkeeping. White returns (白&#33ắc申告) are simpler but offer fewer deductions. Our software supports both.

How does it work after I pay?

After payment, your license key is emailed to you instantly. Enter the key in the app to unlock full access. Your license covers up to 3 devices and is valid for one year from the date of purchase.

How much does the software cost?

White Return is 7,980 yen per year. Blue Return Pro is 15,980 yen per year — a fraction of the 50,000–150,000+ yen you’d pay a tax accountant.

Is this approved by the Japanese tax office?

Our software generates forms that follow National Tax Agency (NTA) requirements. However, it is a preparation and guidance tool — users submit their completed forms directly to the tax office or online via the NTA portal.
